Frequently Asked Questions About Giving

Why do we give?

Giving is not only a command given by God but it is also a privilege. Giving allows us to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of people. From the early beginnings of the church, giving has been an important act of worship. Acts 2:44-48, “And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

What is a tithe?

A tithe means a tenth or 10%. God instructed his people to tithe in the old testament. In the NT, God desires that we give freely and willingly. 2 Corinthians 9:7, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”” Giving should be a part of a Christ-followers relationship with God but it is not important what exact percentage you give.

Will I still receive regular contribution statements from the church?

Yes. The church will continue to send contribution statements to your address on file for tax purposes at the end of the year.

Is it safe to give online?

Yes. In many ways giving online is safer than writing a check in that an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen.

What types of bank accounts can I give from?

You can give online from your checking account, debit card or even your credit card.
*Please note: We ask that along with being a faithful giver, you also are a responsible giver. That means that when you give you do so with an open heart, and responsible means. Please be accountable with your debit card and credit card transactions. We do strongly suggest that no one use a credit card unless it is paid off every month. We do not wish our congregation to go into debt by tithing on a credit card. God isn’t asking you to give more than you actually have. “For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.” (2 Corinthians 8:12)

Can I make a one-time contribution?

Yes. With PayPal, you can make a one-time donation.

If I want to set-up a recurring gift, what are my options for frequency of my gift?

You can set up recurring gifts; you have the option of giving weekly, twice a month, every two weeks or once a month.

When will contributions be taken from my account?

Typically your contribution will be charged on the same day unless you schedule a specific day for the contribution to be charged.
